Backflow Prevention Service

Our backflow prevention team tests and certifies all backflow prevention devices. Our technicians are state-certified and go through intensive training to earn their certifications.

Below are some of the items that are inspected when a backflow is tested:

  • Is there damage to the assembly?
  • Is there rust on the assembly?
  • Are all parts of the assembly in place?
  • Is the assembly working properly?

What is Backflow Prevention?

Backflow prevention is also known as cross connection control. Backflow prevention devices keep contaminated water from flowing back into the main water system. Contaminated water is kept out of the system by a set of valves that close when backflow occurs.

Backflow is often caused by a drop in the pressure on the supply side. The drop in pressure causes a vacuum, which can pull water back into the system if a backflow prevention device is not present.

How Often are Backflows Tested?

In Illinois, each Backflow assembly must be tested & certified upon installation. According to the EPA, backflows are required to be tested annually. Failure to comply can result in interruption of your business and substantial fines.
